Doğukan Yıldırım was born in 1982. He studied at Istanbul Bahçelievler Anatolian High School between 1992-1999. He completed his medical education at Istanbul Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine between 1999-2005. During his medical education, he worked as an intern at Justus Liebig University Faculty of Medicine in Giessen, Germany.
Between 2005-2010, he completed his specialisation in Gynaecology at Istanbul Bakırköy Gynaecology and Paediatrics Training and Research Hospital. During his residency, he became interested in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, which was still in its infancy in Turkey at that time.
In 2011-2012, he completed his compulsory service at Ağrı Doğubeyazıt State Hospital. He performed the first Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy operation of the region. In 2012, he was awarded the Gynaecological Robotic Surgery Certificate at Ege University Faculty of Medicine.
At the end of 2012, he was successful in the examination conducted by the Ministry of Health and was entitled to work as Chief Physician at Istanbul Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital between 2013-2014. During this period, he performed numerous urogynaecological operations.
Between 2014-2016, he continued to work as Chief Physician at Istanbul Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital. During these years, he performed many Laparoscopic Surgeries and started to be interested in Advanced Endometriosis Surgery.
Between 2016-2018, he completed his fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology Surgery at the same hospital. He did a second compulsory service at Elazığ Fethi Sekin City Hospital between 2019-2021. Between 2021 November and 2022 December, he worked at Elazığ Private Hayat Hospital.
He speaks advanced English and intermediate German. He has contributed to the training of more than 100 Gynaecologists working in different hospitals of Turkey and the world.
He has more than 20 articles published in international and national journals. His doctoral thesis was accepted to Cochrane Metaanalysis in 2019. There are 287 citations to his articles so far. H-index is 10, i-10 index is 11.
He is a member of the European Society of Gynecological Oncology (ESGO) and regularly participates in ESGO activities and courses. He is also a member of the European Society of Gynecological Endoscopy (ESGE). He has successfully passed the ESGE exams and accredited his Laparoscopic Surgery experience.
The videos of his surgeries are published in prestigious media such as ESGO and IRCAD-Websurg and contribute to the education of colleagues around the world. He is the first and only physician in Turkey whose operation videos are published on both ESGO and Websurg.
He has taken part as an instructor in various Laparoscopic Surgery Courses organised in Turkey. For more than 10 years, he has been performing Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery operations. He has experience in all difficult surgeries as well as female cancers. Placenta percreata surgeries, complicated gynaecological operations, endometriosis surgeries are his special interests.
In 2019, he performed Laparoscopic Inguinofemoral Lymph Node Dissection operation for the first time in Turkey. He closely follows all innovations in the world and applies them in his practice. His greatest passion is to provide world-class treatment to his patients and to do his job at the highest level. Regardless of which city and hospital he works in, he continues to pursue this passion. Since January 2023, he continues to serve his patients as Gynaecological Oncology Surgery Specialist and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist in his private practice within ALLE Health Clinic.
